Are You Rich?

Today is Blog Action Day, and bloggers around the globe are talking about poverty. Are you poor or rich? You might be surprised, check your ranking (I'm among the top 10%).Thanks go to Matthew Hogg for bringing this up.

*Check your ranking* sounds like an Obama device to simplify his mission to redistribute the wealth in the US if he gets elected. EEEEWWWW!

Ignore the silly comments. I ranked high, too. A few days ago I was purchasing baby formula for a sick mom. A young man was obviously having a tough time finding a can of formula he could afford. I saw him in the checkout line. He bought one small can. Nothing else. I imagine he went a little hungry for the sake of the $10 can of formula.

By the slightest of chances...are you voting Republican kman? :P (just teasing).

Laurie, you bring up a very interesting point, the poor are harder to ignore in Latin America, because they're more visible.

Greedy monopolists know that we'll buy children's milk and medicine, no matter the cost. Therefore they have no qualms in charging obscene prices for them. They're stealing food from the poor to enrich themselves.

Aaron, you are right. In the same market, a liter of Pepsi costs less than 75 cents. How could this be?

No sense of humor, Laurie?

Maybe you should have tuned into a network carrying the Alfred E Smith Memorial Dinner tonite to see both Obama and McCain having a good time poking some fun at each other. It was hilarious and laughter reportedly can add years of life to those who partake. But, ignore if you like.

I'm voting McCain for Prez and Repubs for Congress. God help us!

Interestingly enough, although I'm making twice the amount of money as I did in Honduras, everything costs twice as much here, so my big jump into "rich" territory doesn't feel like much.

I empathize a bit with McCain, the media is SO biased against him. But truly, I don't like either of them. (I preferred Hillary to Obama, but McCain to Hillary). Not that I like Hillary very much either.

Who would make a better president? None of them. The job is too much for anyone, it's too much power for one individual. The presidency has too much temptation for corruption and manipulation by the rich and powerful.

We should limit the powers of the presidency. Who will defend us from a bad president? Only the laws that limit his or her power.

I'm glad you're prospering, Aaron. And, unfortunately, whatever finacial level you are in, or at, in life, it's never enough.

My candidate choices are exactly like yours. We have some things in common, Aaron. Does that frighten you? :-)

Actually I have a bit of a sense of humor, but not about poverty. I enjoyed Sarah Palin making fun of Tina Fey on SNL. Ha! But my vote is for Obama, and I am proud to be an Obamazon.
